Japanese Macaque

The Japanese Macaque or the snow monkey is a prime example of an animal adapting and changing. The snow monkey is the northern most living primate other then humans and lives in extremely cold and snowy areas of Japan. Its fur has become a grey/brown color which allows it to blend in with its surroundings. They tend to have thicker coats of fur in winter. Food is scarce so they have learned to forage and eat insects.   The snow monkey has adapted to swim in the hot springs to keep warm during the winter. Not only have they adapted they have also gained human like characteristics. They clean their food before they eat and are very hygienic. They have human like facial features and infant snow monkeys have even learned to roll snow balls for entertainment.
